Based on resolver’s experience to date, you should contact your Green Deal provider before paying out for any extra maintenance work, as it may be covered under warranty.

Most Green Deal equipment comes with a five-year warranty for the equipment, and 10 years' warranty for any building damage caused by the installation. Cavity and solid wall insulation have a full 25-year warranty. If things go wrong with the goods or service, you may want to make a claim under the warranty.

However, many Green Deal improvements have extremely lengthy repayment periods. So if your new boiler breaks in year eight, its warranty will have expired. You'll need to pay to fix it, but you'll also still have to pay your Green Deal provider each month.

If your claim is refused and you feel that your contract has been breached, you should write to the provider, making it clear that you will be claiming for any money spent on a third party repair unless they rectify the situation. Remember to keep evidence of quotes and cost of work and include these in your future claim.
