Based on resolver’s experience to date, if you find that any details on your confirmation documents are wrong, it can be quickly and easily rectified by contacting the rental company you booked with. Details of the driver, collection dates etc. should be easily changed, but do make sure that they are correct on the final version. If there is a discrepancy in charges, you should also contact the rental company to ask for an explanation. There should be no hidden charges at the time of booking and any charges for optional extras (such as car seats or additional drivers) should have been made absolutely clear. If you feel that you have been misled in any way, resolver recommends that you firstly submit your concern in writing to the car rental company, asking them for an explanation and for a refund, if you feel it appropriate. If you are unhappy with their response, resolver recommends you contact one of the bodies that deal with car rental disputes. If you booked your car direct with a hire company, the European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS) provides a free service to deal with Europe-wide disputes. There is also the European Consumer Centres Network which will investigate any breaches of European contract law free of charge.
